About

Christa is a knowledgeable Counsellor and is awaiting registration through BCACC as an RCC, and a Canadian Certified Counsellor Certification through CCPA.

Christa is a graduate with a Masters of Counselling Psychology degree (MACP) and Bachelor of Arts in linguistics with focus in language revitalization and trauma (BA). In addition to these degrees Christa holds a DEC (Diplôme d'études collégiales/ Diploma of College Studies) of Fine Arts and an ACS (Attestation of College Studies) in intercultural Communication and Development, obtained in her home province of Quebec.

Volunteering in Ukraine and then BC, Christa completed a 3000 hour mentor-apprentice training in indigenous and western psychotherapeutic group development and delivery over 4 years, with a 1500 hands on hours and 500 training specific hours.

Christa’s work experience in the mental health field started in 2012, and she has been working with children, youth, families, adults, and community centres in group work, individual work, consultation, and program delivery/design through the last 12 years. She recently completed her MACP practicum with Moving Forward, a low to no barrier counselling centre out of the lower mainland. These experiences lay the foundation of knowledge Christa draws from in creating collaborative therapeutic relationships with diverse populations.

Christa’s experiences paired with her identities as a proud mixed-race, queerwoman discovering and reconnecting with her family’s heritage of Celtic, French, Indigenous, and Melungeon ancestry, put Christa in a unique position when supporting the exploration of client and collective mental health and the importance of equitable access to care and support.

Residing on
lək̓ʷəŋən territory (Victoria BC), Christa released a podcast miniseries in partnership with Telus on barriers to access in mental health.
